You Need Search Engine Friendly Pages For A Good Web Design

Wednesday, August 19, 2009 9:47
Posted in category Blogging

There’s no point in building a website unless there’re visitors coming in. A major source of traffic for most sites on the Internet is search engines like Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Alta vista and so on. For this reason, by designing a search engine friendly site, you’ll be able to rank simply in search engines and obtain more visitors.

Major search engines use programs called crawlers or robots to index websites to list on their search result pages. They follow links to a page, reads the content of the page and record it in their own database, pulling up the listing as individuals search for it.

If you wish to make your site indexed without difficulty, you should avoid utilising frames on your website. Frames will only confuse search engine robots and they might even abandon your site because of that. Moreover, frames make it difficult|challenging|hard|trying|not easy for users to bookmark a specified page on your site without using long, complicated scripts.

Do not present important info in Flash movies or in images. Search engine robots may only read text on your source code so if you present essential words in Flash movies and images rather than textual form, your search engine ranking will be affected dramatically.

Use meta tags accordingly on each and every page of your site so that search engine robots know at first glance what that particular page is about and whether or not to index it. By utilising meta tags, you are making the search engine robot’s job easier so they will crawl and index your site more predominantly.

Stop employing wrong HTML tags like font to style your page. Use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) instead because they’re more effective and streamlined. By using CSS, you can get rid of redundant HTML tags and make your pages much lighter and quicker to load.

Make Money Online Quickly With These Super Tips

Monday, March 9, 2009 5:19
Posted in category Blogging

I’m betting it’s safe to say most of us know someone who has been affected by the slow economy. You may even be a victim yourself. With jobs getting harder and harder to get and many companies cutting back hours and pay, a lot of people have turned to the Internet to earn extra money.

In the examples below, you’ll find that many of these methods require few skills. The few skills you will need can be learned in a short amount of time. But I’m betting you already know how to turn on a computer and surf the Internet. You won’t get filthy rich with these methods, but many people are learning how to make some extra income from these techniques. The good news is that you can start earning money rather quickly with most of these methods.

Ebay is a tried and proven way that nearly anyone who can use a computer can make money online. You can go as simple as you want or get as complex as you’d like. The simple method of making money quickly with ebay is to visit Garage sales to find bargains to resell on ebay. Other popular ways people find stuff to sell on ebay is to look in their own homes, Estate auctions and self storage auctions. Some wise people actually buy bulk items at Costco and Sam’s Club and resell it on ebay. Some will sell the bulk items as is while other will break open the bulk items and sell the individual units.

Another source of Income and products to sell at online auctions is Craigslist. The free section has been a goldmine for me. I generally find free stuff and then turn around and sell it on ebay. Sometimes you can even find real bargains on other products and sell them on ebay for a marked up price.

Some of you have special knowledge of programs such as MS Office, Quicken or PhotoShop. These skills are in demand and you can become a Freelancer just by advertising your services on Craigslist or browsing the Forums such as DigitalPoint. You’ll also find people needing your services at sites like elance, getafreelancer and others. More than one person has started a successful small business in this manner.

You can also offer services like Lawn Care, Tutoring, handyman services and many others using Craigslist. Give it a try if you’re strapped for cash and need a little extra money quickly. Who knows, there have been a lot of small businesses started this way!

Should you decide to go the Freelancer route, just be sure to research any opportunity you come across. There are a lot of shady websites out there looking to scam would-be Internet entrepreneurs.

If your handy and love making crafts, you may want to start your own business selling crafts as gifts. Etsy is an online craft auction site where people go and sell their crafts online. You can even sell them on ebay or other auction sites. Some wise craft makers even start their own websites so they can control the buying and selling side of things.

So you see, if you really have the desire to make money Online, there is a way. It may not be the most glamorous, but I hope you will earn enough to get by on. There have been a lot of people turn their hobbies into full time incomes by taking them to the Internet.

A Blog for Your Business?

Sunday, March 1, 2009 4:33
Posted in category Blogging

Pro blogging is a very recent idea with a lot of potential for enterprising individuals who have insight, drive, and an elementary understanding of today’s innovative internet technology. There are not numerous individuals able to make a living simply by blogging, and the social ranks of these so-called pro bloggers are relatively tiny as well. The amount of individuals that successfully use their weblogs to supplement their income, increases every day. The amount of pro bloggers is growing by leaps and bounds, but it is hard to say whether this fashion will continue.

Pro blogging appeals to numerous writers of varying levels of talent who would like acknowledgment for their work. Most individuals who expend at least an hour a day blogging would be happy to discover a way to monetize their weblog. There are several different methods of making money with a weblog like utilizing space on the site with marketing such as Google’s AdSense program or other similar plans that demographically targeting the needs of your readers. Marketing space on your weblog is very simple, but making a good living at it is not.

Many individuals who read weblogs are ‘bloggers themselves, partially because those who use ‘blogging technology regularly are more likely to be interested in what other authors are doing with their ‘weblogs. This fact starts to explain why the individuals who succeed in the world of pro blogging are mostly people who have committed themselves nearly entirely to learning concerning, talking concerning, and writing concerning blogging. Professional bloggers center on the dynamics of the blogoshpere itself. Professional bloggers often make use of the field of blogging itself as subject material for their blogs.

Of course, professional blogging is destined to become much more complicated in the future than it is today as with any project management issue. In today’s web climate, professional bloggers that bring in the most readers and make money from this are mostly concerned with analyzing and capitalizing on the blogging environment itself while offering advice to amateur bloggers. Blogging demographics are proposed to change rapidly as the software becomes more user friendly. It is very likely that the world of professional blogging will start to reflect these changes. It’s truly tough to guess what types of blogs will gain the most visitors and revenue a decade from now. The world of pro blogging is one of endless change and flux, which is part of what makes it so exciting.

Using SEO Blog Comments For Backlinks

Saturday, February 21, 2009 4:55

Most of you probably already know that you can boost your search engine rankings by getting back inks to your site, but how many of you are using blog comments to get back links?

You have probably heard that you shouldn’t waste your time with blog comments because the search engines don’t follow the link because of the no follow tag.

This is both true and not true at the same time. Yes, a vast majority of the blogs you find will have the no follow tag on the comments. But there are some that don’t have no follow tags.

The default installation of WordPress automatically adds the no follow tags to the comments but if you know what you are doing you can find blogs that don’t have the no follow tag or will remove the no follow tag in return for you making a certain number of posts.

Go out and post your comments on these blogs but before you do I want to make sure you aren’t leaving spammy comments so here is some blog comments etiquette.

Any comment you leave on a blog MUST have something to do with the content of the post.

If the post you are commenting on is about WordPress plugins don’t leave a comment about sports fishing. This is common sense but you would be surprise at how many comments like this I delete.

Don’t put links in the body of your comment. This is very bad etiquette unless the link is to a resource that expands on your comment. This doesn’t mean if you have a site on sports fishing you can put a link to your site in the comment body but if the post is on a new way to string a leader you can put a link to a page (on your site or another) that shows how to do this.

Most of the time when I set up a blog I set the comments in the discussion area so that if you put links in the body of the comment it will send your comment to moderation where I have to review and approve or deny the comment before it is posted. This stops all the spammy links.

Where the comment form asks for your name that should be your name, don’t stuff it with keywords. You can use a pseudonym, I use Randy The Hermit because most people know me by that. Your pseudonym can have keywords in it, if the keywords are related to you or your business only. And it should stay the same on every comment. Besides if the no follow tags are in place the keywords won’t help you in the search engines.

That pretty much covers the etiquette but I can hear a lot of you out there screaming, “Why should I bother if it is going to have the no follow tag on the back link?”

This question can be given a few answers, such as:

1.With or without the no follow tag it is still a link to your site. You can get over 1000 links to your site by leaving 5 comments a day for a year. These links will be seen by 1000’s of people that might come to your site.

2.If you comments adds value to the topic of the post the author and readers will start to recognize your name and you will be branding yourself as an expert.

3.If your comment is informative you will also find that a lot of the readers will click on your link to find out more about you.

4.Just because the major search engines abide by the no follow tag doesn’t mean everybody does. The last time I checked Ask would follow no follow tags and there are some ad services that do their own back link testing that will follow these links and this could raise the amount you collect for showing their ads.

If comments have the no follow tag activated how do you tell?

The most obvious way is to find a comment and look at the page source, pour through all the code looking for the link on the name and seeing if the no follow tag is in the link. This will drive you crazy if you do it a lot of times but it does work.

********************************************************************
ADVERTISEMENT

********************************************************************

An easier way is to use FireFox or Flock browser (If you are not using one these you should be) and get the SEO for FireFox addon (It works in FireFox and Flock) you can find it as SEOTools.com or just search for it in Google.

Once this is installed all no follow links will be highlighted in red so they are easy to notice. If the link (the name) in the blog comment isn’t highlighted that mean the no follow is shut off for the comments on that blog.

There are a couple of plugins that blog masters will add to their blogs that automatically removes the no follow tag from the comments and another plugin that will reward the people that comment frequently by removing the no follow tags from that individuals comments. This plugin is Lucia’s Linky Love.

After they install this plug in the blog master can set it so that the no follow tag will be removed from the comments for people that comment a certain number of times.

Lucia’s actually checks both the name and the email address for every comment so if you are posting on the blog you need to use the same name and email address the minimum number of times before the no follow tag is removed

Most commonly this is set at 3 to 5 posts before the no follow tags are removed but the blog master can set if from 3 to a million if they like.

You might now be wondering how you find blogs that are using Lucia’s Linky Love, the easiest way to do this is to go to Google’s Blogsearch and search for your keywords in quotes plus Lucia’s Linky in quotes (it should look like this “keyword phrase”+”Lucia’s Linky” ) and you should find some posts for your keywords that this will apply to.

On the blogs I use this on you will need to post 4 times to get a link back to your site. I read the comments and I delete the spammy ones so the people just trying to get the right number of posts never make it. This encourages more comments and usually adds good information.

What you need to know about Search Engine Submission

Tuesday, February 10, 2009 1:43
Posted in category Blogging

If your website has not been indexed by the search engines you will not come up in the search results. When you search the “web” using Google, Yahoo or MSN’s search tools, you’re not searching the Internet you are searching the search engines databases.

When a site is submitted to the search engines the search engines uses software called “spiders” to crawl the pages of your website through your internal site navigation and captures vital information about each page and in puts it into their database.

The information captured include Meta tags, content, H1 tags, Alt tags, sites that you link to and sites that links back to your site. The Meta tags are at the top of your web page in the code. They are in what is called the header. The Meta tags are very important to the search engines because they tell them what is on the page.

********************************************************************

********************************************************************

Along with the H1 tags Alt tags and the content in the body of the text on the web page this gives the search engines the information they need to index or put into their database your web page. It is very important that your Meta tags are specific to each page of your site. Do not just copy and paste the same Meta tags to every page on your website. There’s a big explanation from that old and that later. There are several ways to get web pages into the search engines a database (indexed).

Submit your site to the different search engines. There are a lot of sites, for small fee, that will take your indexed pager homepage and submit it to hundreds or thousands of search engines over and over every month for the rest of your life. Run don’t walk away from the sites. If you keep trying to submit your site, especially to Google, Yahoo and MSN, this may appear to them as spam. Spammy is bad! I suggest that you do not even register with Google, yahoo or MSN unless you have 6 to 9 weeks to sit around and wait for your website to be indexed.

In part II, we will reveal the secrets of getting fast, safe submissions.

Learning How To Make An Income Blogging

Saturday, February 7, 2009 19:53

There are two major types of business models that entrepreneurs use to make money blogging. The first and most common way to turn a blog into a profit making machine is to sell advertising to different companies and brands who want to reach that blog’s readers.

The second kind of money making blog is one that helps a single brand improve its image by creating positive associations between the blog and the product in the mind of consumers. Both kinds of blogs can make a lot of money, especially if the creator has a keen mind for marketing.

If you are blogging with the goal of selling advertising, there are two basic ways that you can go about recruiting sponsors who want to put ads on your site; you can let someone else do all of the legwork, or you can do the work yourself and keep all of the revenue.

Within the first group, many people make money blogging by selling space through Google’s AdSense program. The advantages of this program are numerous, as it requires very little effort on the part of the blogger or webmaster to begin raking in profits.

Many, however, are making less money than they thought through the use of this method.

When you try to sell ads to companies directly, it can take a fair bit of time but it is often a lucrative choice. If you have industry contacts, make those contacts and see if you can get some of the companies to advertise on the web.

Those with a strong sales background or who know how to pitch a deal can make a lot of money renting blog space to those companies that are interested in your blog.

The most serious problem with this model is that you often have to build quite a sizable readership before you can attract advertisers, which can mean that you have to do several months of work before you start to make money blogging.

********************************************************************
ADVERTISEMENT

********************************************************************

Blogging should continue to be more and more lucrative so that there will be many more companies that will consider getting into the action and advertising via blogs. Some companies are starting up their own blogs to act as somewhat of a friendly face for their company.

Companies and businesses will often employ a professional blogger to write about their company and will get people excited about their products.

There have been several established bloggers who have become employed by such companies and who have earned a lot of money blogging for the corporate world.

Selecting a free site to blog can be a bit overwhelming. There are so many good options. There are some sites that dominate the blogosphere but you can choose from a number of smaller sites as well.

Whether or not you choose a small site or a big site depends on what your personal priorities happen to be.

The best reason to choose a site over others is its reliability. Larger sites take precedence in that category. When you choose from a larger site, you can be assured that the site wont crash or disappear in a heartbeat, leaving you high and dry.

A company that has set up a big site tends to have more researchers and fewer technical glitches.

Some bloggers feel, however, that this isnt much of a selling point.

Those who choose a smaller, more select site, in part because they enjoy working for the underdog of the bunch. Such a blogger casts his choice for David against the mighty Goliath.

The Role of Hunger in Your Business

Friday, January 23, 2009 10:49
Posted in category Business Motivation

Hunger and fear are good for your business. Not abject hunger and despairing panic, mind you. That’s too much. But a little touch of hunger and fear is very useful.

I know there are many people out there who would prefer that not to be the case. And I’m one of them. I wish inspiration and love were big enough motivators for action. But for us humans who aren’t yet enlightened, they don’t seem to work so well.

The problem is complacency. We most often don’t do things until we absolutely have to.

I’ve watched it happen–a client’s savings account dwindles down over time while they are stuck in fear or uncertainty about what to do or how to do it. Perfectionism has it’s tight grip on them.

Then the account hits zero, or whatever feels like “zero” to the person in question. And suddenly they leap into action.

Sound familiar? This is the mother of all feast-or-famine cycles. If you stay in that kind of a cycle, then your business can’t ever move much higher than the ground floor.

But before we go about seeking a fix, let’s take a look at the Sufi teaching that explains why this can be a good thing.

Lashed With Hunger and Thirst

There’s a Sufi story that goes like this: Source, aka God, aka The Divine, was talking to the ego, asking it to leave off injuring itself with various addictive behaviors and surrender to Source. “Am I not Your Lord?” The Divine asked in its inimitable Divine fashion.

The ego responded. “I am what I am, and you are what you are,” continuing right on with what it was doing. The Divine then plunged the ego into fire in order to purify it–kind of like putting metal into fire to burn away impurities.

The result? Nada. Twelve thousand years of fire and the ego is still clinging to its self-destroying patterns.

The Divine then plunged the ego back into the fire adding just a touch of hunger and thirst. Immediately the ego released its grip and allowed itself to be purified.

Yes, I’m talking about us.

The Difference Between Pain and Survival

What this short Sufi story outlines is the difference between pain and survival. Humans have an almost unfathomable capacity to deal with pain and suffering, but we have very little capacity to risk our own survival.

This is one of the reasons that I think this financial crisis is actually going to be healthy for us in the long run; by threatening our survival, it’s making people take actions that could’ve been done gracefully awhile ago. It’s painful, it’s scary, and a lot of people will end up being hurt. Yet apparently it’s necessary. And some of the actions we’re forced to take now may serve us well over the long term.

But that’s a far larger topic than I want to delve into, so I’ll just say that and move on.

Move on? Now you know complacency is a normal human state of being until hunger and thirst are added. So instead of just living with it, let’s move on to how to get your business fanny in gear without your bank account or some other survival button being pushed.

Keys to Hunger-Motivated Business

What else besides (lack of) money threatens your survival?

One of the reasons it works so well to declare goals before witnesses is because your identity as someone with integrity is threatened if you don’t follow through, and your ego sees this as akin to survival. It can be a bullying approach, so I recommend some measure of compassion in it, but it can also be very effective.

Take a moment in your heart to identify what qualities are core for you, such as integrity, generosity, or love. Now put them in play, usually with others’ help, by setting goals your ego will fight for.

It’s a little tricky, but then, so is the ego, and it’s okay to push the ego a bit, if the deeper intention is truly from your heart.

Here’s an example: In the recent Path to Profitability Retreat, we prided ourselves on holding a spiritual container that allowed participants to go deep into their processes. In order to provide that, we needed to double up on our own spiritual practices. So we did. It just so happens that both Holly and I have had a commitment to deepen our spiritual practices, and this goal helped get us there.

Use actual hunger or thirst to weaken your ego.

One of the key spiritual practices in nearly any tradition is the ascetic practice of fasting–avoiding food or water or both for a set amount of time.

Fasting weakens the ego. Whether it’s Ramadan, Yom Kippur, or Lent, devoted followers often report a purity of heart after fasting. The benefit of this purity of heart means that the ego’s grip is looser, and the heart’s intention and inspiration is more available.

Try taking a single day and, if it’s not dangerous for you medically, fast. Don’t eat or drink for twelve hours. Keep up your meditation and prayer practices during this time to support the process, and notice how you feel afterwards.

It seems like an impractical business suggestion, but spiritual traditions around the globe have recommended fasting and prayer before big projects or decisions. It creates that sense of purity and resolve that can get you moving forward clearly and in a big way.

Choose the middle path.

While fear of survival can get you moving, too much can paralyze you or make you sick. Don’t fast too much. Don’t let your bank account go too low. Don’t set goals you don’t have a chance of reaching.

The ego has all kinds of built-in mechanisms that can support you in your business, and fear of survival is one of them. You don’t have to think it’s wrong as a motivator, it’s actually very holy. But be conscious of how it works, and use survival with love and intention.

The best to you and your business,

How Important Is SEO To A Website?

Sunday, January 18, 2009 18:18

SEO, which is an abbreviation for Search Engine Optimization, is the method of creating your website with Search Engine in mind. In fact, the sole purppose of SEO in website creation is to optimize your website so that the Search Engines out there automatically pick your site up.

But it is much, much more than that. The entire goal of Search Engine Optimization is so that ALL the major search engines not only pick up your site, but without ANY additional work, the search engines automatically rank your website higher than all others in search related terms relative to your website content.

So, the goal, then, is that if you have a website, say, selling pet supplies. Then you build your website with SEO in mind. When you are complete with your website, you do not even submit to search engines. They actually come to find your sight. And because you built the sight (by the way, this goes for blogs and social sites as well) with SEO, every time someone searches for the term “pet supplies” your site comes up first. Or say they search for “dog toys”, again, your site is first, or at the minimum, one of the top 3 positions.

The goal then, is that whatever key words people search for in search engines, if you built your website with SEO in mind, then you site will always appear on all search engines, preferrably in one of the top 3 places of any search engine.

Is this possible? Yes, it is! In fact, there are websites out there that businesses pay other online SEO companies as much as $4500 a month to make sure that their site ranks on all search engines!

Now it does not take a lot of deep contemplation to realize that these websites MUST be making money of from all the traffic from search engines if they continue to play $4500 a month to maintain it, right?

This is what Dan Johnson, Web Architect & Search Engine Optimization Consultant at SEO Workers had to say: “The next time you are searching on the web, search for your own site. What keywords would a person use that should include your site in the results? Where is your site listed in those results, if at all?

Search engine optimization is the tool that can ensure that your site will be listed within relevant search results, and as close as possible to the top.

Ignoring SEO could be like having no signs and blank windows in your building. Potential customers will drive past your shop, not even realizing you are there. Should you consider the importance of SEO? You should bank on it.-”

And this is what RedLineSEO.com had to say:

“Why is SEO important?

Although search engines are extremely competitive (in terms of placement), the major search engines account for over 90% of all traffic. With that though in mind, companies that are serious about earning a share of the internet market should be committed to securing top 10 rankings for the keywords or phrases that pertain to the products and services that they offer.

The best way to ensure a solid return on your website investment is to employ the services of a search engine optimization firm with a proven track record of success, knowledge of current and cutting edge techniques, and experience working with the business community.”

So as you can see, SEO is important, PERIOD!

It takes most webmasters 5 years to fully understand and utilize SEO. For a lot of webmasters, 5 years never come to be. You need to be making money quickly, 5 years is too long to take to understand this important part of website traffic.

Fortunately for me and you, we do not have to take 5 years to learn SEO, nor do we have to put out over $4000.00 a month to make it happen for our website. There is a shortcut! It is called SEO Elite! It has been so successful, that this is the current version, version number 4!

From The SEO Elite Website, a simple taste of expertise

Without going into extreme detail, I’ll summarize the 3
major points you MUST know to rank highly
for your chosen keywords.

Google ranks websites by those that are deemed to have the most authority on the given topic/keyword.
Google pays much less attention to what is actually on your web page itself than what most people think. Yes, you heard me right. You don’t actually even need to mention your keyword anywhere on your website to rank highly for the keyword!

Google looks at who’s “voting” for a website, to determine how highly it ranks. If important sites are “voting” for your website, you will rank highly.

You must know EXACTLY why the top 10 ranked sites in Google are currently ranked where they are. You can’t guess by simply looking at their web page itself.

As I said above, what is on the web page itself has VERY little to do with the reason they’re ranked where they are. It has as little as 2% to do with their ranking…”
